A Petition for Variance is its own submission. You will not select a review type; we record it as a Petition for Variance automatically.
The Petition for Variance application must be completed and included with your submission documents. Submissions without the completed application cannot be processed. A separate petition is required for each building and each code issue.
Verify Project Location
Plan review for licensed healthcare and residential care facilities is handled by the State, not E-Plan Exam or the municipality. The Department of Health Services (DHS) reviews hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, and CBRFs, including additions attached to one of them up to a building division. The Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) at dsps.wi.gov reviews free-standing clinics, day surgery centers, dialysis (ESRD) facilities, and RCACs.

Under SPS 382.50, plumbing plans for hospitals, nursing homes, CBRFs, ambulatory surgery centers, renal dialysis centers, and inpatient hospices must be submitted to the Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) at dsps.wi.gov - they cannot be reviewed by E-Plan Exam or the municipality.
Plumbing plans for other health care related facilities - assisted living, residential care apartment complexes, clinics, urgent care, and similar - do come to E-Plan Exam as the delegated reviewer. If your project is one of those, continue below.
Based on your confirmation, this project's plan review belongs with the State - DHS or DSPS per the regulatory authority chart (for plumbing, DSPS under SPS 382.50) - and it will not continue through E-Plan Exam.
